Tathra is a children's wonderland. Safe beaches, rivers and estuaries to swim in, bike tracks to ride, snorkelling, kayaking, surfing, hanging out at the Fish N Chip shop. Across the road, right on the beach in the heart of Tathra, is a playground where children and teens can gather and play.
The Dragon Park children's play area is sure to keep the little ones entertained while you can enjoy a barbecue or picnic while keeping a watchful eye.
The Skate Park is a drawcard for the skate board, roller blade, bike and scooter enthusiasts keen to show off their talent.
The Tathra Surf Club patrols the beach on weekends and during Christmas holidays from end of September to late April.
The Surf Club runs a Moonlight Cinema under the stars on the first two Fridays in January and on Easter Saturday night. A great treat for the family.
18 Hole Championship Mini Golf Course has four ponds and a waterfall, water, sand and rock hazards and has you putting over creeks, down mine-shafts, through rabbit burrows, down the Snowy River, and across the Simpson Desert. The course has been uniquely designed to suit all ages providing a challenging course for adults with short cuts for the kids. Putters, golf balls and scoring cards can be collected from reception.

As well as charter vessels which take passengers to watch these majestic creatures at sea there are some great places to do shore-based whale and dolphin watching.
Chamberlain Lookout above Kianinny Bay is an excellent vantage point to spot whales as is the viewing platform above Tathra Wharf. Dolphins can be seen surfing the waves on the waters outside the Tathra Surf Club mid morning as they follow the fish up the beach.
Dusk is also a time where you see the dolphins cruising the beach. Seals can be seen playing hide and seek among the Tathra Wharf pylons while stingrays the length of a small dinghy cruise in the crystal waters under the wharf.

Come and taste the cheese that made Bega famous. Bega since 1899 - 100% Australian owned and produced. Bega Cheese is the largest cheese plant in the southern hemisphere. Come and learn about how the early farmers lived, worked and transported their wares. Free cheese tastings of the different varieties of Bega Cheese. Local produce, crafts, and some country fare for lunch. Home of the Bega Visitor Information Centre. Open daily 9am to 5pm.
